Description

HTS Traffic Calming is a pigmented thermoplastic hot screed surfacing treatment consisting of polymer modified binder, selected high PSV aggregates and mineral extender.

The product is suitable for application on concrete and asphalt surfaces and is applied to a finished thickness of 3 - 5mm to provide a high visibility surfacing which is durable and skid resistant.  The system is supplied in standard red and green with other colours available for specialist applications.

Uses

HTS Traffic Calming materials are used to enhance the effectiveness of road signs, markings and road surface layouts primarily in terms of increased safety and improved accident reduction.  Suitable schemes include village gateways, rumble strips, traffic islands, and delineation routes for bus and cycle lanes.

Application

The material shall be applied transversely across the road surface using a screed box  with a suitably designed trailing edge allowing the encapsulated aggregate to be evenly distributed.  On an average textured surface (TD = 1.5), the material shall be applied at a rate of 9.5 - 10.5kg/m² (95 - 105m²/tonne) and finished to give an even, durable and textured surface free of lumps and other blemishes.

Aftercare

The finished surfacing can be trafficked once the installation has reached the ambient temperature of the adjacent road surface.

Material Performance

The properties of the installed HTS Traffic Calming material shall conform to the requirements given in Table 3.
