ARMOURLAY
PLUS OBS 60
COMPOSITION
A proprietary formulation of polymer modified bitumen special aggregates,
extenders and
adhesion agent.
DESCRIPTION
A hot
applied polymer modified bituminous system designed to achieve a SRV of 60+
when
measured
using the TRL Portable Skid Resistance Tester. The product is suitable for
applications
on all Highway and Airfield surfaces in temperate climates.

SURFACE PREPARATION
The
surface should be thoroughly cleaned and dried using a hot compressed air lance
operating
at 800 - 1000°C to remove any dust, laitance and loose foreign matter.
APPLICATION
The
material shall be loaded into a preheating mixer fitted with positive
temperature control
and
mechanical agitation and raised to it’s application temperature of 190 ±
10°C. Apply the
material
using a screed box with a suitably designed trailing edge to give an applied
thickness
not exceeding 3mm and a width not exceeding 40mm (HD31/94 Part 1).
On an
average textured surface, the application rate for OBS 60 is approximately
4500lm/Metric
Tonne
ARMOURLAY PLUS OBS 60 presents no acute health hazard
at ambient temperature.
However as these materials are normally handled at elevated temperatures
when their
physical state changes to a liquid, the bitumens present in these
products give off fumes
which are undesirable to inhale as small quantities of Hydrogen Sulphide
are be present in the bitumen. Please
refer to the Product Safety Data Sheet for further information.
SAFE HANDLING PRECAUTIONS
·
Do not
exceed the maximum safe heating temperature.
·
Do not
allow the hot material to come into contact with water as the product will
react
violently.
·
Always
wear the recommended protective clothing.
RECOMMENDED PROTECTIVE
CLOTHING
Overalls, Goggles/Visor, Gloves and Closed Safety Boots when handling hot
products.
